Meet Jane Chuks
Jane Chukwurah, better known as Jane Chuks is a Lagos, Nigeria based talented singer/songwriter, dancer and live performer with a vibrant, urban and often psychedelic sound rooted in Afrobeat, but, with a touch of that magical R&B sound from Toronto pioneered by OVO. Jane’s a free-spirit, fearless; always ready to buck the trend musically and that has led to comparisons to Nigeria’s own very own Burna Boy — and its not hard to see why after listening to her songs like the addictive Baddaman.
Jane developed her love for music at a young age and aims to showcase her talents to the world through carefully crafted songs, EPs, albums and live performances. She singlehandedly built up a strong team consisting of record producers, managers, distributors etc. and has released two strong projects: Venus vs Mars EP which brought with it the supremely catchy single ‘New Whip’ and her latest project, the appropriately titled Aphrodite EP — a cohesive body of work — that showcases not just her skills with the pen, her vocal range; versatility but also her immense ear for melody and the skill of the in-house production team of her 2506 Collective led by the equally super talented Swisslizz. That EP—which is available on all streaming platforms—is a must listen for everyone who loves R&B/Soul music. Aphrodite has spawned hit singles such as Baddaman, For You — which still receives airplay in radio stations like KISS FM — and the acoustic guitar number Heartbreaker.
Jane Chuks, a graduate of the prestigious American University of Nigeria, Adamawa where she studied software engineering, has a history of successful ventures into modelling, marketing and advertising of small to medium scale enterprises; representing companies such as Chowsticks, Ecoways, Alliance Gigabyte Systems and many more. She is known for her tenacity, ingenuity, and ability to create wealth—a true hustler. Currently an independent artist, Jane hustled and funded her music career through her foray into those business ventures.
She aims to consistently create; distribute captivating and timeless music that would resonate beyond the walls of Africa. The vision is to be a globally known brand — you can tell by her transcendent sound — and she seem to have come at the right time because: the Nigerian music industry has seen immense growth in the past few years with international record companies like Sony, Universal Music Group and Jay Z’s ROC Nation investing into our catchy Afropop sound through signing and investing in talents such as Wizkid, Tiwa Savage et al to name a few. Jane Chuks’ mission is to attract attention of the industry big hitters by consistently releasing good music and putting out live performances that would stand out.
She is currently on a promotional run which would include a short live performance tour: opening for already established names in the industry.
